Khajuraho: Indian Classical Dance and Music Festival Organized by Environment and Social Welfare Society, Khajuraho had been inaugurated in Khajuraho in the gracious presence of Honourable Shovana Narayan, Kathak Guru & retd IAAS, Padmashri & Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee. Mr. Rajeev Jain, Director Doordarshan Bhopal Madhya Pradesh. Kun. Vikram Singh, MLA, Rajnagar. Mr. R. D. Prajapati, MLA, Chandla. Mr. Surendra Tiwari, Assistant Station Director, All Indio Radio, Chhatarpur Mr. Jagdees P. Rawat ACF Tikamgarh and Mr. Asthana CEO Rajnagar by candle lighting in front of God.

After candle lighting God blessing ceremony performed by group of Soniya Dance Academy, Chhatarpur. Participants were Ayushi Saxena, Rinki Kushwaha, Pragati Saxena, Anamika Pathak, Shraddha Sharma, Bhupendra Kumar Verma and Subhas. Bharatnatyam presented by Y. G. Srilatha, from Bangalore, Karnataka. The theme was Ganga and Bhoomi, respected as the Goddesses of Water and Land, are the main highlights of this performance. The sanctity and purity of the two mothers of the world are illustrated through various incidences taken from our puranas, mythological stories, upanishads and other epics. Krishna himself worships Ganga and he saved the water from the venomous snake Kalinga, he prays the Govardhana Giri hill and in this context worships Bhoomi Devi. Now, the land and water have been spoilt due to afforestration, Mining, hazardous smoke and elements from factories. We have to build a social awareness in people that we are the main causes for all these problems and we need to take suitable measures to protect our land, water and air. Steps to eradicate these problems and to have a Green Environment and a healthy environment are themain aspects of this performance.

Bharatanatyam presented by Tatini Das, Guwahati, Assam. Theme was Flood due to Deforestation and Conservation of forest. Tatini Das was honoured by memento and awarded by certificate by Guest of Honour, Honourable Kathak Guru, Padmashri & Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, Retd IAAS, Shovana Narayan, With Mr. Rajeev Jain Director Doordarshan, Bhopa. Indian Classical Dance and Music Festival started in the gracious presence of Honourable Pushpraj Singh, Former Education Minister, Govt. of MP and Mr. Manvendra Singh, Former PWD Minister, Govt. of MP, MLA, Maharajpur. God blessing ceremony performed by group of Dream Dance Studio, Chhatarpur. Participants were Ballabhi Rawat, Vaishnavi Gupta, Akrati Gupta, Sakshi Yadav, Tanya Rawat and Niharika Goswami.

This dance was in two part Suryastak and Varsha abhisar (nritya -abhinay). In Suryastak:- Rag – Bairagi. Tal- Tripata,: Ektali,; Rupak. And in Varsha abhisar:- Rag - Megha, ; Versha. Tal - Ektali, ;Tripata. Soumya Shadangi was honoured by memento and awarded by certificate by Guest of Honour, Honourable Pushpraj Singh, Former Education Minister, Govt. of MP.  Bharatnatyam Presented by Apeksha N. Mundargi, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. This

Bharatnatyam presented “Yamuna Gatha” is an attempt to shed light on the greatness of this holy river and also to create awareness of the uncontrolled pollution about which we should consciously do something.
